Are You Smarter than a Fruit Fly?

Fruit flies only live for 30 days, and in those 30 days do you know what they do every day? They think and they sleep. Humans will regularly live through an entire 24 hour period where they never truly think nor sleep, two things that are bound to lead them to success. So it’s time to face reality – are you smarter than a fruit fly?

Here are 3 things you can do every day to get the most out of your 24 hours:

1. Sleep.

This may seem obviously simple, but you would be surprised how long humans will go without truly getting a good night’s sleep. Ask yourself – when was the last time you woke up and felt ready and excited to take on the world? They quality of sleep you get every night will directly impact your ability to learn, remember and focus. Turn the T.V off an hour earlier, turn off the lights, and go to bed. Like all things in life, this action is obviously simple, but making it your habit is where the work comes in.

2. Think.

Don’t just do it, be concise about how you are doing it. Our thoughts can be our most powerful tool or weapon. The best part about thinking for yourself is that you have control over your thoughts. The first step to thinking well it to use your internal language wisely.  Your language will change your thoughts, your thoughts will change your beliefs, your beliefs will change your actions, and your actions will change your reality. Imagine if you put a little more effort into changing your thoughts every day – how much could you change your reality?

The best part about thinking for yourself is that you have control over your thoughts.

3. Manage your time.

Most of the stress in our life comes from the mismanagement of our time. We are constantly over-committing ourselves, and as a result we stop giving ourselves the time to think or sleep. Not taking the time to participate in self-care will not gain you that promotion at work, or make your relationships thrive. Take some time out of your day to plan ahead and delegate some of your workload.
