Years ago, I was having coffee with a friend, and she excitedly handed me a card and shouted “Happy Birthday!”
I jokingly said, “Celebrate me every day, except my birthday.”
On November 13th, it was National Kindness Day–ugh!
Are we only supposed to be kind one day a year? Talk about setting the bar really low.
We have these special days to celebrate people, like Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Veterans Day, etc. only to ignore those same people the rest of the year. I am not sure how National Kindness Day came about and I imagine the intention is to remind people to be kind, but do yourself and the world a favor and be kind everyday, including on National Kindness Day. 😊
A good quote to live by often attributed to Plato is, “Be kind, everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle.” You are under no obligation to know what battle they are fighting. All you have to do is BE KIND!
